open the Task Manager by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Delete and Press “Shut Down” at the top of the Task Manager and choose what you want your Windows XP to do:

  1. Stand By
  2. Hibernate
  3. Turn Off
  4. Restart
  5. Log off
  6. Switch User

The task will be performed that you want to do in a matter of seconds.

How To Speed Up Your Windows XP By Disabling File Indexing

File indexing is a Windows service, and it is totally useless and you do a lot of searching on your computer. As most users don’t, it’s a good idea to disable it to speed up actions like opening and closing files and folders on your Windows XP.

instructions To disable the Indexing Service:

Go to “My Computer” from your desktop and right click on your hard drive. At the bottom of the window that opens, you should see a check box titled “Allow Indexing Service to index the disk for fast file searching.” and this box has a check sign so Uncheck it.

Press OK and you’re done! Your computer should be a little faster after a restart.

Lexar 128GB Echo SE serves as both backup, thumb drive

Lexar this week built a new high capacity 128GB USB drive and its first launch in january. The new Echo SE is seen both as large enough for a backup and portable enough to be a typical thumb drive. It should be relatively fast, at peak read speeds of 28MBps and maximum write speeds of 10MBps, and optionally locks down with 128-bit AES encryption.

Acer Liquid Stream launches first in UK

Acer’s Liquid Stream smartphone is offered by electronics retailer of expansys of UK and its first introduces is in UK. This is the first appearance of the advanced handset in stores, which revolves around a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU and Android 2.1. It has also a 3.7-inch OLED touchscreen with an 800×480 resolution and a five-megapixel camera capable of recording 720p HD videos.

The Liquid Stream handset already has tri-band HSPA 3G access, Wi-Fi and an FM tuner, along with the GPS sensor. It has 2GB of builtin memory along with a microSD memory card slot. Expansys is selling the unlocked handset for the equivalent of $610. The device was rumored to arrive in North America in October

New Shuttle barebones PC supports Intel Core CPUs

Shuttle has revealed its newest ever compact barebones PC, the XPC Barebone SH55J2. It  supports all  socket 1156 Core variants, which includes Intel’s Core i3, Core i5 and Core i7 chips. It is also compatible with the onboard GPUs found in few Core i3 and Core i5 chips.

The new XPC has both HDMI and VGA outputs, and a PCI Express socket which can accommodate a dual-slot discrete graphics card. There are nine USB  ports of 2.0, an eSATA/USB combo connection and both analog as well as optical audio outputs. A gigabit Ethernet and a multi-format memory card are likewise accounted for.

The inside has a 3.5-inch hard-drive bay and a 5.25-inch optical drive bay. with 300W power supply inside, and a heatpipe cooling system as well. The SH55J2 is now being shipped to Europe, price appx. $320
